BioWare weaves together an epic adventure with memorable characters and a whole lot of heart.
Gameplay
- Combat is fun, flashy, and dynamic. Stays interesting throughout the whole campaign.
- Movement and traversal are forgiving in a fun way.
- Exploration is rewarded nearly 100% of the time.
- The loop tends to be a little more video-gamey than dynamic.
- Not all combat classes are created equal.
- More of an action/adventure game than a RPG.
- Help and tutorials are almost non-existent.
Story & Characters
- You are always being propelled forward and visiting new areas.
- The main storyline is relatively straightforward but always feels epic in scope. You never lose sight of your main objective, which serves the urgency well.
- Several standout character-specific missions.
- Genuinely care about the outcome of certain character arcs.
- Hero background is woven in organically, albeit inconsequentially.
- Names are quickly picked up due to a crazy amount of repetition.
- “Woke” themes are inelegant.
- Some side quests can be considered filler.
- The constant influx of new locations can be disorienting at first.
- Meeting characters from past games can be less impactful to new players.
